  I wanted a walnut bookcase but couldn't seem to find one. Ended up settling for a solid oak case from the Modern Furniture store. We made the purchase on a Sunday afternoon and had it delivered within a few days. I was really pleased that we were able to have it delivered before I went to work as we live in a high security apartment complex and getting furniture delivered is always a nightmare. So far it has stood the test of time, is very sturdy and looks great. It was around AUD$800 from memory but considering it's a modern design and is solid wood I don't have a problem with the price. Hoping to get another one soon as I've already filled the first one.

  Great quality, excellent service. Just bought 2 tall boys and very happy with them. The girls are always lovely and even dog friendly.

  Kristin Edwards purchased a significant amount of furniture from The Modern. A deposit was paid and the furniture was allocated in our warehouse (and removed from inventory) awaiting delivery. Kristin subsequently sought to cancel the entire purchase and demanded a full refund of the deposit (having engaged an interior designer). In seeking a compromise, we offered to agree to a cancellation of approx. 65% of the order (despite the fact that the deposit was there to secure completion of sale) but this was rejected by Kristin.

  At all times Kristin was responded to in a courteous and professional manner. Kristin's abrupt change in attitude toward The Modern stemmed directly from her expectation that our business cede in full to her demands immediately despite the clearly defined purpose of the deposit payment and our attempts to assist by seeking a reasonable compromise.

  We bought a dining setting from The Modern. Beautifully made, looks even better than the pictures, and chairs are extremely comfortable. Received excellent after-sales service too, wouldn't hesitate to buy from there again.

  One of my fav furniture and styling stores in Brisbane and I am a frequent customer of this place. I have found the service amazing and the girls so helpful and knowledgable. The furniture is really well made, designed and of extremely high quality. They also have an incredible display of Marimekko accessories and Armadillo&Co Rugs. Definitely worth a visit if you are looking for high end and affordable Australian design and homewares in Brisbane......5 stars!
